Generally speaking, diesel engines are better than gasoline engines, but why are diesel cars not popular? Let's take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of the two cars.
Advantages: Long life, strong, fuel saving, safety! 1. Long life and economic durability. The speed of the diesel engine is low, the relevant parts are not easy to age, the parts wear is less than the gasoline engine, the life is relatively long, there is no ignition system, the auxiliary electrical appliances are less, so the failure rate of the diesel engine is much lower than that of the gasoline engine. Some imported diesel engines can reach 800,000 to 1 million kilometers without major repairs, while gasoline engines only 400,000 to 500,000. Fuel consumption is low, with a 2.8 litre electronically controlled common rail turbocharged diesel engine consuming as much fuel as a 1.6 litre electronically controlled gasoline engine. 2. Low speed and high torque. Diesel engines usually have a very high torque at a very small speed, which is better than gasoline engines on complex roads, climbs, and loads. However, the performance of the gasoline car is not as good as that of the gasoline car on the high level of the highway. 3. High security. Compared with gasoline, it is not easy to volatilize, the ignition point is higher, and it is not easy to be ignited or explode due to accidental circumstances, so the use of diesel is more stable than the use of gasoline. 4. Be greener. The greenhouse effect of diesel engine emissions is 45% lower than that of gasoline, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions are also lower, but over the life of the vehicle nitrogen oxides and PM (particulate matter) emissions are greater than that of gasoline engines. With the continuous progress of technology, its emissions have reached the Euro III and Euro IV emission standards.
Disadvantages: loud noise, not tall! 1. Loud noise and vibration. It affects the driving comfort, so the use of passenger cars is relatively small. However, with the continuous progress of technology, some high-end diesel vehicles have been quite close to gasoline engines, and major foreign automakers have also launched many diesel vehicles. 2. High manufacturing cost, high fuel quality requirements, high weight. The fuel injection device of diesel engine is extremely difficult to manufacture accurately, and the life of the injection device will be seriously shortened if inferior fuel is used. Due to the high compression ratio of diesel engines, high structural strength is required, so the weight and volume will be relatively large. 3. Because diesel is not volatile and compression ignition and other reasons, cold start in winter is not as good as gasoline engine. Even if there is a start preheating device, it can be started after tens of seconds of preheating.
